So, the Trump administration is apparently trying to navigate the murky waters of AI chip sales to China like a toddler attempting to steer a speeding car.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently broke the news that they’re still working out the kinks on a plan to snag 15% off Nvidia and AMD’s sales to our favorite not-so-secretive dragon, China. And who knows? This could expand to other companies—like that one friend who shows up to your party uninvited, but you can’t exactly kick them out.
In an age where technology feels like it’s advancing faster than a kid on roller skates after a double espresso, this decision raises eyebrows. Are they trying to curb competition? Boost an outdated political agenda? Or just throwing darts at a board labeled “Global Economy”? Only time will tell—unless, of course, the darts hit something explosive.
As lawmakers keep their paperwork close, their legal advisors closer, and AI companies on the edge of their seat, one has to ask: Is this a stroke of genius or one more misstep in the complex dance of international tech trade?
