Hold onto your algorithm hats, folks! Tom Alison, the big cheese at Facebook (or should we say Meta?), marched into the courtroom like he was prepping for a reality show rather than a legal battle.

The FTC is not holding back in its quest to unveil the secrets of social media satisfaction, and Alison is one of their final pieces in this intricate puzzle. Recently, the FTCโ€™s lead attorney Dan Matheson made it clear that Meta knows exactly what users want: more posts from their friends! Shocking, right?

In a 2021 internal presentation, it came to light that โ€˜three of the top four user pain pointsโ€™ revolved around engaging with friendly facesโ€”or at least virtual ones. Seems like the algorithm was only serving up cold leftovers instead of inviting users to the emotional banquet.

As the trial unfolds, itโ€™s clear that Alison is not just here to take a stand but to challenge the very structure of modern social interaction. Will Meta finally get it right, or will they continue to lead us down the rabbit hole of cat videos and conspiracy theories? Stay tuned.
