If you thought the Switch 2 was all sunshine and gaming bliss, hold your Joy-Con horses—because the Pro Controller is here to remind you that not all that glitters is gold (or neon green).
YouTube’s VK’s Channel recently revealed the inner workings of the Switch 2 Pro Controller, and let’s just say, “complicated” doesn’t even begin to cover it. Sure, the joysticks are modular, which sounds fancy until you realize you’d need a degree in advanced origami just to replace that rechargeable battery. Who designed this thing, a puzzle champion?
To get inside this gamepad, you’ll first have to deal with a glued-on faceplate that’s about as eager to come off as a cat at bath time. Forget about quick upgrades; this is like trying to exit a coding boot camp without a portfolio—you’re going to sweat, and there will probably be tears.
So, while you’re battling your way through your Switch 2 controller’s innards, remember: next time you take a controller apart, maybe consider a life of leisure instead. It’s a lot less hassle—unless your idea of leisure is spending six hours trying to figure out where that tiny screw went.
What’s your take? Is DIY repair supposed to be this much of a Herculean task, or should controllers come with a warning label?
