Reports of the Metaverse’s death have been vastly overstated—much like my attempts to finish a 10-page report before bedtime. Ah, remember when Mark Zuckerberg was convinced that we were all destined to live in a digital utopia like some sort of tech-savvy Hunger Games? Well, hellooo?! The Metaverse hasn’t kicked the bucket yet—Meta’s still throwing money at it like it’s a value meal at your favorite fast-food joint.

You might be thinking, ‘Wait, what? The Metaverse is still a thing?’ Yup, it’s still hanging in there, riding the waves of VR hype even as AI takes center stage with its fancy algorithms and chatbots that seem almost human (unless you ask it about your feelings).

The shift to AI doesn’t mean the Metaverse has been shelved like your high school gym uniform. Nope, it’s more like it’s off in the corner—still breathing, still evolving, perhaps waiting for the right moment to pounce back into our lives with even fancier headsets and virtual coffee meetings that will probably still suck as much as real-life ones.

So, is the Metaverse truly dead, or is it just taking a little ‘me’ time? One thing’s for sure: in technology, never say never. What do you think? Is the Metaverse still lurking around, or has it truly missed the virtual boat?
