Drumroll, please! Google Search has just been officially crowned with the title of having “entrenched market power” in the UK. I mean, if you were expecting anything less from the tech giant with more search queries than you have hot dinners, then snap out of it!

After nine long months of deliberation, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has decided that Google Search deserves a shiny new badge: “strategic market status.” What does that mean? Well, it puts Google in the hot seat for some extra regulation while they navigate the wild world of online searches.

Sure, AI is part of the picture, but donโ€™t start thinking about those fancy assistants like Gemini just yet. Weโ€™re talking about good old-fashioned search reliability here. Expect similar verdicts for Android and iOS coming in hot this month.

So, as Google keeps flexing its dominance, the big question remainsโ€”will this new designation spice things up in the digital jungle, or is it just a bureaucratic pat on the back? I’m placing my bets on the latter.

Stay tuned because the tech drama is just getting started!

What are your thoughts? Do you think Google is unstoppable or merely overhyped?
