Well folks, it’s happened. Google has officially donned its black arm band and called time on ‘unlimited’ Google Photos storage. Yes, you heard that right! What was once a dreamy utopia of endless photo backups is now just a distant memory, like your high school selfies.
Remember when Google swooped in to save us from the heartache of lost memories with free unlimited storage? Fast forward a decade, and that sweet deal has gone the way of the dodo. They brought it back semi-briefly in 2022 via T-Mobile’s Google One benefit, but as of September 30th, 2025, poof—it’s gone!
If you’re wondering where to stash those thousands of vacation pics you keep forgetting to delete, don’t fret. There are still options out there, though you might have to dig a little deeper into your pockets—or just be a tad more ruthless in your digital decluttering.
Long story short: Google Photos’ unlimited storage is over, and if you blinked, you probably missed your chance. Onward we go to new (paid) horizons, my photo-hoarding friends.
