Just when you thought tech partnerships were as solid as a newly inflated ego, Flock decides to hit the brakes on teaming up with Ring. It seems that not everyone was rolling out the welcome mat for this union. Flock Safety, which has been under scrutiny for its alleged ties to ICE (a claim they’re vehemently denying), announced their decision to pause this budding relationship.
In a classic case of ‘let’s talk about it endlessly,’ Flock claimed to have engaged with customers, officials, and community stakeholders over the last few months, trying to gift-wrap this collaboration in a package of public safety. But alas, it turns out the feedback was less ‘Yes, please!’ and more of a collective ‘No, thank you.’
Flock and Ring decided to cancel the planned integration after realizing that safety should never come with a side of privacy concerns. So let’s clear the air: Flock might not be hopping on the Ring train after all.
In a world already teetering on the brink of surveillance overload, could this pause actually mean folks are starting to care a little more about how their data is used? One can only hope!
