Hold onto your digital wallets, folks! Crypto crime in 2025 is already raking in more dough than a pizza buffet on a Friday night. According to the blockchain analytics wizards at Chainalysis, more than $2.17 billion has vanished from crypto services this year—yeah, you read that right.

Most of that loot comes straight from a single, jaw-dropping hack: a whopping $1.46 billion heist of Bybit, allegedly linked to some North Korean hackers who clearly skipped a lot of ethical hacking classes. Without that mega heist, let’s just say the numbers would be looking a bit less grim—like a sad attempt at online dating with no matches.

So, while 2024 was already a rough ride, 2025 is shaping up to be the Wild West of crypto crime. Time to keep those wallets on lockdown and maybe learn to store your Bitcoin in a digital vault that even Ocean’s Eleven would be jealous of.

What’s next? A crypto heist that involves drones and a laser grid? Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!
