Hold onto your wallets, folks! TSMC is rolling out its US-made chips, and they’re coming in hot—with a price tag that’ll make your jaw drop. According to AMD’s not-so-shy CEO, Lisa Su, we’re talking about a premium of 5% to 20% for these American beauties compared to their Taiwanese siblings.

Why the heck would anyone want to pay more? Simple: supply chain diversifications. In a world where global semiconductor supply chains resemble a soap opera with all the drama, having local sources means less chance of hitting a cliffhanger. AMD expects its first Arizona-made chips to debut by year’s end.

So, while you might need to cough up a little more cash, at least you can rest easy knowing your chips come with a side of ‘Made in the USA’ pride. Now, who’s ready to dig into that budget?

Are you willing to sacrifice some cash for local production, or is it all about the savings for you?
