Have you tried binging your favorite show on Prime Video lately? If those ads popping up feel like they’re auditioning for an Oscar, you’re not alone.
Amazon has given us the heads up, in an email to ad buyers, that it’s cranking up the ad load to a staggering **four to six minutes per hour**. Yes, you heard that right: double the previous ads, giving new meaning to ‘interrupting your regularly scheduled programming.’
When Prime Video first dipped its toes into advertising back in January 2024, it promised a gentle landing. Apparently, Amazon’s definition of ‘gentle’ is like that of a bulldozer—what happened to the lighter ad load? Maybe they thought we were all just too glued to our screens for a little more ad love.
This change might do wonders for Amazon’s revenue, but you can bet your popcorn that viewers aren’t exactly thrilled about the ongoing ad deluge. Is anyone else wondering if they’ll start throwing in a trivia game between each binge-worthy episode? Let’s just hope the ads don’t start suggesting we buy more toilet paper while we’re at it!
So, what do you think? Are these ads driving you to distraction, or are you just here for the ride?
