Microsoft recently shared that it feels a bit ‘hemmed in’ by competition. Now, that’s rich coming from a company that once had the market all but cornered, leaving its rivals feeling like they were chasing after a PalmPilot and AOL in slow motion.

Let’s be real for a second. Microsoft is basically saying, “Woe is me! TikTok is making it hard for me to thrive,” while also skipping over the fact that TikTok isn’t exactly sending it packing. In fact, Meta—the Facebook parents—beat its own revenue forecast for 2024 by a whopping 78% from 2020! Sounds like the real headwind is just a little gust in the face, right?

At this point, it’s not just about who has the biggest slice of the pie anymore; it’s about keeping the whole bakery from falling over. Competition? Sure, Microsoft, but maybe your problem is that you’re still using Windows 95 to solve a 2025 problem.
