Well, folks, gather ’round the gaming news campfire: Nintendo just confirmed that the top USB-C port on the Switch 2 is as useful for video output as a chocolate teapot. That’s right; it’s all about that bottom USB-C port for any video action!

During a Q&A faster than a Mario speedrun, Switch 2 producer Kouichi Kawamoto dropped the bombshell that while you can plug in accessories like cameras up top, don’t expect to dazzle anyone with video streaming or gaming glory through that port. Nope, the onboard flashy stuff is strictly reserved for the bottom port—talk about a plot twist!

So, if you were dreaming of a sleek setup with smaller dock alternatives while your Switch is standing tall on its kickstand, well… Sorry to burst your bubble. The only thing that’ll be showing up on your screen is your disappointment.

In the grand world of gaming, where ports are king, it looks like Nintendo is keeping us in a tight grip. In this age of multi-output devices, did we really need this curveball? Let’s take a moment to appreciate the sheer audacity of limiting video output to a single port… Kudos, Nintendo.

What do you think? Are you team “What were they thinking?” or are you ready to embrace the challenge of a one-port lifestyle?
