AT&T just decided to pull the plug on its email-to-text service, and you might be feeling a twinge of nostalgia—if your thumbs are itching to text your favorite AT&T user straight from your email. But alas, come June 17th, this quirky little feature will officially say goodbye, leaving a void that may or may not be filled by your trusty group chat.

If you’ve got one last burning message to send via email (you know, like that heartfelt apology for forgetting to text back), you can still give it a shot. Just plug in your recipient’s area code and phone number—no punctuation necessary—then slap on “@txt.att.net” or “@mms.att.net” at the end. Voila!

But let’s face it—was this service a relic of a bygone age or a surprisingly handy tool? The world may never know, but it’s worth remembering how we got here. From aimless emails to texting like we’re in a high-speed car chase, technology has pulled the rug from under our feet more than a few times.

So, what’s your take? Will you miss emailing your texts or is it ‘thank goodness’ time for a software update on our communication methods?
